On an ailing ex-President wishing to go back to his country
On an ailing Ex-President
One can argue about the net national gain or loss incurred under General Musharraf’s nine years rule over Pakistan, but it will be hard to contest that the General was an excellent manager. Compared to others at the helm before or after him Musharraf did a good job in managing the bureaucratic affairs of the country. During his regime, competent people, based on merit alone, were appointed at key positions. Today, NADRA is the best run institution in the country and the credit for setting it up goes to Pervez Musharraf. When in power, General Musharraf was always full of energy and showed great love for the country. It is a pity that Pakistan couldn’t use the vigor and devotion of the General after he was removed from the office.
In this difficult time of his ill health my best wishes are with General Pervez Musharraf, and I want to see him back in the country of his love.
